U Of M Professor, Blaine Police Officer Killed In Head-On Crash
The married couple was out riding a motorcycle Sunday evening.
BLAINE, MN — A Blaine police officer and his wife were killed Friday night while they were out riding a motorcycle in Elk River. Authorities say the head-on crash with a truck occurred just after 6 p.m. on Twin Lakes Road.
Officer Steve Nanney and his wife Susie, both 51, were killed. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Steve most recently worked as the school resource officer at Blaine High School, "a job he loved," according to the city. Susie was an associate professor at the University of Minnesota.

"Susie was dedicated to the dietary health of children in promoting healthy lifestyles for hunger relief and school wellness," the city said in a statement.
"Steve was also very active in his work volunteering in multiple capacities for Special Olympics. Their compassion and kindness were well known."

The 17-year-old driver of the truck suffered minor injuries.
