• Main St./College Dr. intersection to close Monday (marshallindependent.com) — Expect a full closure of the Main Street and College Drive intersection in Marshall starting Monday, May 18, as crews replace sewer lines, traffic signals, and pavement on Highway 19. Downtown Highway 19 between Main Street and Marshall Street will stay closed, with through-traffic detoured via Lyon County Road 7, Highway 23, and County Road 33. 
• ‘The future is looking bright' (marshallindependent.com) — Marshall FFA students just brought home major honors from the 2026 state convention, including a first-place poultry finish and multiple top-three team awards. Senior Annabel Coudron capped her FFA career with a state poultry title, scholarship win, and State FFA Degree, while several neighboring southwest Minnesota schools also posted strong results across a range of ag competitions.
• Avera Race Against Cancer Raises Over $950,000 Across Avera Footprint (kccrradio.com) — Marshall residents joined thousands across the Avera system last weekend in the Race Against Cancer, helping raise more than $950,000 to support patients and families. Funds will back services like the 24/7 Avera Cancer Institute Navigation Center, travel and lodging assistance, screenings, equipment, and comfort items for those facing cancer.
