Rob Sanow (marshallradio.net) — Marshall is mourning the loss of 67-year-old Rob Sanow, a Marshall native, Army veteran, and Marshall High School graduate whose visitation and prayer service will be held Monday at Hamilton Funeral Home. Friends, family, and community members are invited to pay their respects before his inurnment with military honors in Redwood Falls.

In a 'quest to educate the educators,' renowned autism advocate to speak to college students (audacy.com) — Marshall residents and SMSU students can hear autism advocate Sheletta Brundidge at a free Lunch and Learn on campus Tuesday, October 6, focused on better supporting autistic children and their families. The event, open to the community and local professionals, aims to give future and current child welfare workers practical insight grounded in lived experience.

4. State test data shows growth at Marshall Schools (marshallindependent.com) — Marshall Public Schools students posted notable gains on this year’s state tests, especially in middle school math where seventh- and eighth-graders far outpaced statewide proficiency averages. Reading scores for younger grades also improved as new state standards rolled out, while nearby districts like Minneota, Tracy, and Lakeview likewise topped state averages in several subjects.

Cross country (marshallindependent.com) — Marshall boys cross country runners turned in a strong performance at the Redwood Valley Invitational, finishing second as a team behind standout top-five runs from underclassmen Charles Mueller-Thompson and Noland Munson. Several teammates set personal bests, and the Tigers now look ahead to the Lion’s Meet of Champions in Alexandria on October 10.
