Anti 'Stay Home' Protesters Gather Outside Minnesota Gov's Home
The protesters want Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to "reopen" the economy amid the state's outbreak of the new coronavirus.
ST. PAUL, MN — A large group of demonstrators defied state guidelines and gathered outside of the Minnesota governor's mansion in St. Paul Friday to protest the ongoing "stay home" order.
FOX 9 reporter Theo Keith says the activists want Gov. Tim Walz to "reopen" the economy amid the new coronavirus outbreak. Between 100 and 200 protesters showed up, reports Keith.
The protest occured on the same day that Minnesota saw its largest single-day increase of coronavirus-related deaths. As of Friday, 111 people have died from COVID-19 in Minnesota.

The state's stay home order, which went into effect March 27, has been extended and will last until May 4.

The protest was widely criticized, including by Minnesota's attorney general, who called the demonstrators "irresponsible" and said they are risking lives.
