Coronavirus: Trump Approves Federal Funds For Minnesota

President Trump declared a major disaster in Minnesota and ordered federal assistance for the state.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — At the request of Gov. Tim Walz, President Donald Trump Tuesday declared that a major disaster exists in the state of Minnesota and ordered federal assistance to supplement recovery efforts related to the new coronavirus.

Federal funding is available to state, tribal, and eligible local governments and some private nonprofit organizations for emergency protective measures, including direct federal assistance, for areas of Minnesota impacted by COVID-19.

James Joseph was named the Federal Coordinating Officer for recovery efforts, according to a news release.

"Additional designations may be made at a later date," the White House said in a statement.
