Eastbound Highway 110 To Close In Mendota Heights

Construction on Highway 110 between Highway 55/13 in Mendota Heights and Interstate 494 in Inver Grove Heights is underway.

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MN — Construction on Highway 110 between Highway 55/13 in Mendota Heights and Interstate 494 in Inver Grove Heights has been underway for nearly a month. So far, there has been work on the shoulders, center median and pipe installations. The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be ready for the eastbound directional closure to begin on June 12.

Here is what you can expect to see on Mon, June 12, before the morning rush hour:

  • Eastbound Hwy 110 closed between I-35E and I-494
  • Charlton Rd closed at Hwy 110
  • Sunfish Ln will be a left from westbound Hwy 110 in and left out to westbound Hwy110
  • Residents east of Sunfish Ln will have local access

The official detour is I-35E, eastbound I-494, northbound Hwy 3 back to westbound Hwy 110. Westbound traffic will be utilizing their usual lanes. The eastbound side of the highway will open about halfway through the project work on or around Tue, July 24(weather permitting), and westbound Hwy 110 will be closed and detoured at that time.

Notice

The contractor will be working during nighttime hours (9 p.m. - 5 a.m.) beginning on Mon, June 12. This work may include: removals, excavation/grading, installation/removal of shoring, and installation of a box culvert under Hwy 110. These nighttime activities are expected to continue through mid-September.

This one-construction season project is expected to run though the fall of 2017. During that time, there will be pavement, signing and drainage improvements along with construction of a Dakota County pedestrian underpass, according to a news release.

MnDOT urges motorists to be attentive, drive with caution, slowdown in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
