Area teams get in a full slate of contests prior to the Labor Day weekend.

Sports squads from and got in a full state of contests last week before the Labor Day holiday, as they now prepare to dive into the heart of the fall sports season in September.
Henry Sibley Girls Soccer
The high-powered Henry Sibley girls soccer team scored 13 goals last week in securing a Tuesday win and a Thursday tie to bring a 1-1-2 record into post-Labor Day play.

After shutting out St. Paul Como Park, 7-0, on the road on Aug. 30, the Warriors returned home to knot Classic Suburban Conference rival Simley, 6-6, on Sept. 1.
Anna Giles leads Sibley with five goals on the year, followed by Kallianne Mogler and Courtney Arnborst with four goals apiece; goalkeeper Ruth Hesse already has 31 saves so far this autumn.

Henry Sibley Boys Soccer
The Henry Sibley boys soccer team topped visiting Mahtomedi, 3-1, last Thursday in the Classic Suburban opener to improve to 3-0 on the season. Individual statistics were not made available.
Henry Sibley Volleyball
With wins over Richfield (3-2) and Mahtomedi (3-0) on Tuesday and Thursday last week, respectively, the Henry Sibley volleyball team opened its season with a 2-0 record. Individual statistics were not made available.
Henry Sibley Cross-Country Running
The Henry Sibley cross-country teams both ran at the Dakota Classic in Eagan last Thursday, with each squad finishing third. The boys claimed 75 points, the girls logged 70; individual statistics were not made available.
Henry Sibley Girls Swimming and Diving
The Henry Sibley girls swimming and diving team earned 90 points to finish fourth at the Classic Suburban Relays last Thursday in Inver Grove Heights. Individual statistics were not made available.
St. Thomas Boys Soccer
A loss and a tie last week dropped the St. Thomas Academy boys soccer team from the ranks of the unbeaten as the Cadets bring a 2-1-1 record into the first full week of September.
STA lost 1-0 at South St. Paul in the Classic Suburban opener last Tuesday before tying Waconia's Holy Family Catholic, 2-2, on the road last Thursday.
Benjamin Lemay leads the Cadets with three goals and two assists, with Henry Hart logging two goals and one assist thus far in 2011; Louis Holtz also has a goal for STA.
St. Thomas Boys Cross-Country Running
With a score of 227, the STA cross-country running team finished eighth at the Irish Invitational in Rosemount on Friday.Killiam Brackey led the Cadets with a 14th-place finish in a time of 10 minutes, 36 seconds, with Henry Dalsin (11:07) placing 46th, William Sosniecki (11:17) 54th, Peter Farley (11:20.7) 55th and Joe McGraw (11:23.7) 58th to account for the STA scoring.
Visitation Volleyball
The Visitation volleyball team opened the season with back-to-back losses to Class AAA squads last week.
After a three-game sweep against visiting Lakeville South—the No. 5 ranked team in the state—on Monday, Aug. 29, the Blazers fell by the same score against Burnsville two nights later.
Anne Debertin leads Visitation with 18 kills through the first two matches, followed by Sam Bumler with 11 over the same span; Kayla Adducci paced the Blazers with 43 assists and three service aces last week, as Katie Supplee had a squad-best 21 digs.
Visitation Girls Soccer
Going a perfect 4-for-4 to start the season, the Visitation girls soccer team surged through the first stretch of the season with a spotless 4-0 mark that included wins over Trinity (3-2) on Monday, Aug. 29, Mounds Park Academy (6-1) on Tuesday, Aug. 30 and St. Agnes (5-0) on Wednesday, Aug. 30.
Statistics for the St. Agnes game were not available. Through the first three games, Abby O'Brien led the Blazers with three goals, followed by Breckyn Crocker with two goals; Sarah Neuberger and Haley Housh had three assists apiece.
Visitation Girls Cross-Country
The Visitation cross-country team finished second to Blake in a conference meet last Wednesday, scoring 54 points. Individual statistics were not made available.
Visitation Girls Tennis
The Visitation girls tennis team claimed a 5-2 victory over St. Paul Academy last Thursday. Individual statistics were not made available.
