MINNEAPOLIS — Nearly $600,000 in political contributions has been linked to Minneapolis-based Target Corporation this year, according to a report.

OpenSecrets.org has a list of candidates and political parties that Target's affiliates have donated to.

Money flowing from corporations and nonprofits has played an outsized role in U.S. elections ever since the Supreme Court's 2010 decision in Citizens United.

In Citizens United, the court ruled that the First Amendment prohibits the government from restricting companies from donating money to political campaigns. Money can now pour in from wealthy corporations across the country.
