Donations Pour In For Family Of Boy, 4, Killed While Driving ATV

A 6-year-old who was a passenger on the vehicle survived, authorities said.

MORRISON COUNTY, MN — More than $8,000 has been raised so far for the family of Steve "Owen" Meyer, the 4-year-old central Minnesota boy who died after the ATV he was driving crashed. The donations are going to help pay for the funeral expenses.

A 6-year-old passenger on the vehicle survived the crash, authorities said.

Just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, 4-year-old Steve was driving the vehicle on 83rd Street outside Buckman Township when he lost control on the gravel road, rolling the ATV, according to investigators.

Before the ATV started rolling, the passenger jumped off the machine, but Steve was ejected, police said.

Authorities responded and provided tried life-saving measures, but Steve was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 6-year-old passenger was treated for minor cuts and bruises, investigators said.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved," Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen said in a statement.
