Here are the top 5 stories today in Minneapolis:

1. The current wave of COVID-19 infections in Minnesota "appears to be in retreat," according to a Star Tribune report. Seven counties are currently in the high transmission category, down from 19. About 1,805 people per day are testing positive in the state. (Paid source: Star Tribune)

2. Richfield Public Schools canceled class Friday after police received a potential shooting threat at Richfield High School. A student later came forward and investigators determined the threat was fake. (Patch)

3. A section of Highway 77 in South Minneapolis will close for a month beginning Tuesday. Crews will work to resurface the road between West Lake Nokomis Parkway and Highway 62. The area is expected to reopen June 28. (FOX)

4. A group of South Minneapolis tenants say they will not pay rent until safety improvements are made to their building. Five families who live at 3100 Bloomington Ave. in the Powerhorn Park neighborhood announced their rent strike Wednesday. (BMTN)

5. Minnesota movie theaters are hoping summer releases like "Top Gun: Maverick" and "Jurassic World: Dominion" will bring audiences back to the cinema. Representatives from Mann Theatres report revenue is about 40 percent less than pre-pandemic levels. (CBS)
