How Cold Could It Get Next Week?: MN Weather

A cold front will arrive in the Twin Cities metro area behind Friday's mild weather.

TWIN CITIES, MN — Thursday and Friday will feature warmer weather in Minnesota before a cold front arrives. Low temperatures will hit the single digits at the start of next week.

"Gusty south winds will bring milder air north today," the National Weather Service said.

"Some patchy blowing snow is possible. A cold front will push through Friday and a period of snow will follow Friday evening. Light accumulations are likely. Strong winds will follow with gusts of 40-50 mph and some more blowing snow through early Saturday morning."

Thursday: Patchy blowing snow after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 32. Breezy, with a south wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

Thursday Night: Patchy blowing snow before 8pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 28. Breezy, with a south wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Friday: A chance of rain after 4pm, mixing with snow after 5pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. South wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday Night: A chance of rain and snow before 7pm, then snow likely between 7pm and 1am. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 8. Windy, with a west northwest wind 20 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 19. Blustery, with a west northwest wind 15 to 20 mph becoming west 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a temperature rising to around 21 by 4am. South wind around 10 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a steady temperature around 24. West wind 10 to 15 mph.
