We’re hoping the second impression will be warmth…and kindness.
(Minneapolis) – Ten days before the super kickoff, a warm front of Minnesotans is kicking off a celebration of kindness that officially lasts until February 4th, with the hope it will echo forever.

The official kickoff of the Kindness Bowl happens January 25 at Surly Brewing Company - a pep rally, of sorts, to encourage everyone to get on the kindness playing field. E-v-e-r-y-o-n-e. This “competition” is to encourage individuals to become community by being kinder to one another. We are asking cities and towns across the Midwest…and (why not) around the world… to sign up and compete for the title of Kindest Community. Who wouldn’t want that title on their city website? We will be using social media to encourage, highlight, inspire and celebrate kind acts - large and small - then tally them up and applaud the kindness! Why kindness?
The Kindness Bowl was organized by a team of strong, passionate women, including event organizers, Trudy Ohnsorg and Lori Myren-Manbeck. Ohnsorg says, “We live in a time of increasing division and distrust. This is a critical time to come together as individuals and communities in radical sharing, trust, and belonging. Kindness is the key to making that happen.”
Myren-Manbeck, Founder and CEO of Inclusivi-tee, a Public Benefit Corporation dedicated to creating beautiful wearable art and promoting social and environmental justice, adds, “Trudy and I are devoting our lives to making the world a better place. It is literally in my job description as CEO of Inclusivi-tee. We know kindness is a game changer. Hosting a kindness initiative and focusing a spotlight on kindness at a time when all eyes are on the Twin Cities makes a lot of sense.”.
