Meet iiShakers
This article reports on a new invention from a local man who invented a smart illumination system for salt and pepper shakers.
While dining at an Italian restaurant in South Minneapolis in 2013, the hostess stopped by our table with pepper grinder in hand and asked,
"Would you care for some fresh ground pepper?"
"Why, of course," I replied.

As the hostess proceeded grinding the pepper, I could not see how much pepper was being dispensed and I had no idea where it was even landing. After a few seconds, I gave the customary thank you and a smile. She stopped and continued on to the next table.
"Eureka! A problem that needs a solution," I thought to myself.

Fast-forward to 2017. Meet iiShakers.
iiShakers are salt and pepper shakers with a patented, smart illumination technology built-in. A multi-zone lighting system includes: top spotlights for monitoring the amount of salt and pepper delivered, a handy built-in flashlight and breathtaking sidelights that glow. The system is fully automated. You just pick it up and it works.
Not only do iiShakers add to the dining experience, but they help those watching their sodium intake. The LifeShaker Alert System progressively changes the iiShakers side colors to red as more time is spent with the shaker tipped for pouring. See the one minute video that shows all the home features.
And if that is not enough, the technology is designed to be used with any container type whether it’s glass, plastic, wood or stainless steel and the choice of sidelight colors exceeds 16 million. Your choices are practically limitless. And this is just the beginning.
I have a small startup company, Olitus, based in Bloomington, MN and we are crowdfunding iiShakers on Indiegogo beginning September 14, 2017 to help cover costs of a market test that will take place in homes and restaurants in the Twin Cities.
If you are interested in contributing to the crowdfund, go to Indiegogo beginning September 14th. For more information or if you have any questions on iiShakers, please visit iiShakers.com and help us to . . . shake up the dining experience.
