MN Gov. Tim Walz Will Transfer Power During Colonoscopy
Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan will have the powers of the governor's office until Gov. Tim Walz has recovered from his preventative procedure.

ST. PAUL, MN — Gov. Tim Walz will temporarily transfer power to Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan Monday while he undergoes a colonoscopy, according to his office.
The preventative procedure will require Walz, 58, to go undergo general anesthesia.
Following state law, the governor sent a lette to House Speaker Melissa Hortman and Senate President Bobby Joe Champion announcing the upcoming transfer of power.

The procedure will take place at 1:00 p.m. Flanagan will have the powers of the governor's office until Walz sends legislative leaders a written declaration that he is again able to discharge his duties.
"Preventive care screenings are critical tools to help detect, prevent, and treat disease," Walz said in a news relese.

"I hope my procedure serves as a reminder and encouragement for Minnesotans to seek out preventative care and stay on top of your health."
Following the procedure, Walz is set to return home and recuperate. He is expected back in the office on Tuesday.
