MN Secretary Of State Candidate Tells Voters Wrong Date Of Election

If elected as Secretary of State, Kim Crockett would be responsible for overseeing the state's elections.

MINNESOTA — Kim Crockett, the Republican challenging incumbent Secretary of State Steve Simon, incorrectly told voters the wrong day of the election in a video posted Tuesday.

Crockett said that Election Day is Nov. 4, which is a Friday.

In fact, Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8.

The Secretary of State is given the power to oversee and administer Minnesota's elections. Crockett has called the 2020 election "rigged" and a "train wreck."

She has also said that state election officials used to COVID-19 pandemic as a "cover to change how we vote, but also how the vote is counted."

Meanwhile, Simon — who is seeking his third term — has said that Crockett has a "hyper-partisan extremist who embraces bizarre conspiracy theories and traffics in bigotry" and "has a dark, divisive, and dangerous vision."

In May, the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party criticized Crockett "for playing an incredibly anti-Semitic video" at the Minnesota GOP state convention.
