After last week's brief taste of summer, the Twin Cities won't sniff another 80-degree day for a long time.

MINNEAPOLIS — The three straight days of 80-degree weather last week are starting to feel like a dream. Temperatures won't come close to that anytime soon.

"Rain will transition over to snow this afternoon across northern & portions of central Minnesota," the National Weather Service said.

" Slushy accumulations of 1-3" are expected through tonight north of a line from Alexandria to Mille Lacs. Accumulation on roads & other paved surfaces should be limited during the daytime."

Friday and Saturday will also see chances for snow in the Twin Cities metro area.

Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms before 3pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 3pm and 4pm, then a chance of rain after 4pm. High near 46. East northeast wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday Night: A slight chance of rain, mixing with snow after 9pm, then gradually ending. Cloudy, with a low around 36. West southwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday: A chance of rain and snow showers before 3pm, then a chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 42. West wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Friday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers, mainly before 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 31. West wind 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers, mainly before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 40. Breezy, with a northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
