Official Oscar Ballot Briefcase Stops in Minneapolis
Heading to LA for 89th Academy Awards Ceremony
The nominees have been announced, votes are being counted and the official Oscars’ Ballot Briefcase is polished and shined! But before it reaches Hollywood for the 89th annual Academy Awards, the famous briefcase stopped in Minneapolis for some sightseeing and interviews with Twin Cities Live and the Star Tribune.
This is one of two briefcases that will be used that night. On the day of the awards show, the two briefcases will be escorted from a top-secret location, in two different cars that take two different routes to the Dolby Theater. In 2014, as a joke, Cate Blanchett tried to grab the briefcase backstage. It was quite a surreal moment, as her name was in one of the envelopes. Later that that night she won an Oscar for Best Actress.
