WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Ilhan Omar and 16 other members of Congress were arrested while protesting the reversal of Roe v. Wade at the U.S. Supreme Court Tuesday afternoon.

"Today I was arrested in a civil disobedience action at the Supreme Court to protest Roe v Wade getting overturned and the assault on reproductive rights across the country," Omar said in a statement.

"Our reproductive rights are under assault across the country, thanks to an extremist court with little regard for precedent or our basic rights. I will do whatever it takes, including putting my body on the line, to protect our reproductive rights."

Also arrested Tuesday was Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a close progressive ally to Omar. A video from Axios reporter Andrew Solender shows Ocasio-Cortez being walked away from the court by a police officer.

In total, U.S. Capitol Police said they made a total of 35 arrests for "crowding, obstructing, or incommoding" at the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
