Schroepfer discusses School Resource Officers, D.A.R.E. program, and more (kymnradio.net) — Northfield police are back in local schools with a full-time school resource officer and DARE-trained officers focusing on safety, bullying, and mental health. Chief Jeff Schroepfer also reminds drivers that Minnesota law now requires stopping whenever a bus's red lights flash, even before the stop arm is fully extended, to better protect students around Northfield schools and bus stops.

Carleton College Eliminates Student Loans From Financial Aid Packages (patch.com) — Carleton College in Northfield is eliminating student loans from its financial aid packages starting next fall, covering all demonstrated need with grants, scholarships, and campus jobs. The change applies to most current students as well as new ones, potentially reducing debt burdens for many Northfield-connected families and making the college more accessible regardless of income.
   

4. UWL opens season fifth at Griak Invitational (lacrossetribune.com) — Northfield will host the Running of the Cows cross country meet at Carleton's Bill Huyck Championship Course on October 3, where UW–La Crosse returns to competition. The Eagles just opened their season with a solid fifth-place finish at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational in Minnesota.
   

5. Sung Ha Yun on "Wŏn Buddhist Meditation: A Guided Mindfulness Practice" (psu.edu) — A Wŏn Buddhist priest and St. Olaf religion professor is helping nurture a new meditation and spiritual cultivation group in Northfield, offering guided mindfulness practices to deepen calm and clarity. Her upcoming session introduces Wŏn Buddhist meditation, drawing on years of community work and scholarship in Korean and East Asian Buddhism.
