Bites Nearby: 50 Years of Goodness from Fireside Pizza
A Richfield neighborhood landmark serves up a classic.
Often when a restaurant changes owners, menus will change and decor will be redone. But Rich Thompson, owner of in Richfield, bought the restaurant from its original owners in 1996, and has been working ever since to carry on the neighborhood fixture's legacy.
"The pizza is the same pizza you'd get here in 1960," Thompson said.
Watching as the Fireside Special is prepared does inspire a feeling of tradition, and the cooks take obvious pride in making more than a pizza—they're making history, too.
