Victim of Northfield Shooting Death Identified

The woman who was fatally shot in her Northfield home​ has been identified as 61-year-old Lilly Marie Kirckof.

The woman who was fatally shot in a Northfield home has been identified as 61-year-old Lilly Marie Kirckof.

Kirckof lived at the home where the incident took place, according to a news release.

At about 7:50 a.m. on Aug. 14, Northfield Police Department officers were dispatched to Kirckof's home to the report of shots fired.

Initial information was that the shooting was related to an intruder in the home, but police say the shooting was not connected to any intruder.

At the scene, police say they discovered Kirckof and the woman who initially reported the shooting to police.

Kirckof was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman who reported the shooting, said to be in her 70s, was taken into custody but has since been released due to lack of probable cause.
