Registration now open for Safety Town
Safety Town is a program designed specifically for School District 622 children entering kindergarten in the fall of 2012. Children are enrolled for a one-week session (Monday through Friday) for two hours each day. Students learn a wide variety of safety skills, including school bus and personal safety, water safety, fire safety, school and street crossings and more. Presenters include: ISD 622 Transportation, Maplewood Police and Fire, and Ramsey County Sheriff and Emergency Communications (911). Parents can also attend the Parent Talk session on Friday.
This year, classes are scheduled for July 30-Aug. 3 and Aug. 6-10 at 8:00 am, and at 10:30 am.each week
During the Parent Talk session, a licensed parent educator will meet with parents to talk about appropriate expectations of kindergarteners, how to make Safety Town learning last, and other tips for getting ready for the school year.

Cost is $27.00 and includes a T-shirt and bike helmet for each participant. No School District 622 resident will be denied participation in Safety Town due to inability to pay. Non-residents are welcome to register for available openings beginning on June 1, 2012. Letters with details and directions will be sent to Safety Town participants in mid-July.
