1. Owatonna Community Solar Garden begins operations (kaaltv.com) — Owatonna’s new Community Solar Garden is now operating just west of Owatonna Hospital, offering local subscribers monthly utility bill savings of 8% to 15%. Low- to moderate-income households are expected to benefit most, with total subscriber savings projected at $4.5 million over 25 years under Minnesota’s Melissa Hortman Community Solar Program.

2. Minnesota lettuce grower Revol Greens postpones closure (klfdradio.com) — The Revol Greens greenhouse near Owatonna, which had planned to close and lay off nearly 100 workers this weekend, will stay open at least a few more weeks while the company pursues a deal to keep operating. If financing or a buyer comes through, dozens of Medford- and Owatonna-area jobs could be saved despite national lettuce-market troubles.

3. Mental health call leads to bomb scare in Owatonna (southernminn.com) — Downtown Owatonna saw a large police and bomb-squad response Thursday after officers checking on a person in mental health crisis found a suspicious, wired container near the Crisis Resource Center. The St. Paul bomb squad ultimately determined the item was non-explosive, the makeshift dwelling was cleared, and police say the individual in distress received appropriate assistance and resources.

4. Owatonna Middle School students learn scuba diving in Waterworks class (hometownsource.com) — Owatonna Middle School just hosted its sixth annual Waterworks scuba class, giving about 20 students a rare chance to learn diving right in the school pool with the Owatonna Diving Club. Organizers hope the experience builds confidence and may even lead some kids to full certification, and the club is offering a public diver certification class on Nov. 4.

John Marshall gets swarmed in second quarter in loss to Owatonna (postbulletin.com) — Owatonna’s football team thrilled home fans with a dominant 56–6 win over John Marshall, powered by a 28-point second quarter that extended a two-decade winning streak over the Rockets. While JM’s standout receiver posted big numbers, Owatonna’s depth and resilience turned a close early contest into a runaway Northstar District victory.
