Partial reconstruction needs to be done for the area of streets along Annapolis Lane north of the 3600 block to about 150 feet south of County Road 9 and on Berkshire Lane from about 150 feet north of County Road 9 to about 150 feet south of 42nd Avenue.
Partial reconstruction means removing the bituminous surface, replacing the subgrade material with sand and rebuilding the crushed rock and bituminous layers.
Since Annapolis and Berkshire lanes get high traffic volumes the proposed typical section is based on a 9-ton design and as such meets current MnDOT design requirements for State Aid Funds.
Concrete curb, gutter and driveway aprons that are cracking, heaved or trapping water will be replaced. The bolts on water main gate valves are being replaced with stainless steel bolts.
Safety improvement for the project area includes median reconfiguration for southbound traffic on Annapolis and County Road 9. The median will be relocated where the lane ends and traffic must merge. The lane ended with a 90-degree curve before the main entrance to the strip mall. The straightaway relocates to the strip mall’s main entrance.
Construction began in May, street replacement was in May and June and concrete curb and gutter in June and this month. The paving is being done now and restoration is being done in August.
