The Richfield football team’s season came to an end on Tuesday with a 21-12 loss to Minneapolis Washburn in the Section 2AAA quarterfinal.
The Spartans had a 6-0 lead after a one-yard touchdown run by Corban Halbur, but the Millers came back with two straight scores to take a 14-6 lead.
Camren Dearing drew Richfield to within two points with a three-yard touchdown run in the third, making it 14-12, but Washburn’s Jeffrey Jones ran in a 50-yard touchdown to give the Millers a 21-12 lead in the fourth.

Richfield falls to 1-8 on the season, while Washburn (6-2) earned a chance to host Belle Plaine at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the section semifinals.

The Academy of Holy Angels football team defeated Henry Sibley by a 21-7 margin on Tuesday in the Section 3AAAA quarterfinal in Richfield.
The Stars advanced to face South St. Paul in the section semifinals on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
Mikias Alipate scored two rushing touchdowns—one from 74 yards and another from six yards—while Sam Keis scored on a 72-yard run of his own for the Stars.
With the win, Holy Angels improved to 8-1 on the season. Henry Sibley ends the year with a 1-8 record.
