INAUGURATION DAY, 2017: Hello, Fascism

Slumlord alert: Trump repeals Obama's executive order to keep poor people from becoming homeless people -- just hours after Inauguration!

Never have so many made so nice to such a self-proclaimed fascist, sexist, racist, sociopathic, iconoclastic demagogue on Inauguration Day.

On Friday, January 20, 2017, the nation went into serious denial. It was as though no one could quite believe how inexperienced, how clueless, how dangerous Trump as 45th President was going to be. So a lot of positive thinking ensued. Lots of happy talk. Lots of compliments. Lots of hope. Lots of patting-our-nation-on-the-back for - come on, you know where I’m going - this peaceful transition.

Ah, this peaceful transition!

Uh-huh. Right. So all those protesters rioting nearby — and all over America — didn’t really exist? So all those people who stayed away from the inauguration in droves didn’t really matter? So the upcoming mass demonstration of women — complete with pink pussyhats from The Pussyhat Project — isn’t really going to happen this weekend?

So many news reporters, misinformed voters, and other public “servants” need such a life-changing reality check now that they’re beyond any help I can offer. I could tell them to take both hands and pull, pull their heads out — oh, never mind. The poor things couldn’t do it anyway now. They’ve already been propagandized by the GOP-directed media. So they’re beyond all understanding. They couldn’t see the truth now, even if they wanted to see it.

For readers who still care about reality, though, here’s another actual event that vividly illustrates Trump’s hypocritical M.O. It was reported by The Washington Post and appeared online on January 20th. You might not be able to find it in your daily newspaper. You might not have heard it from reporters or pundits on your TV. But it really happened.

Before the sun set on his Inauguration Day, President Trump rescinded — THAT IS, VOIDED or REPEALED — former President Obama’s order that gave low-interest rates to low- income people who were trying to buy affordable housing and get out of poverty and bad neighborhoods and slumlords — like The Donald and his father were.

So now, it’s going to be harder than ever for low-income families to dig their way out of poverty and own their own homes.

No American Dream for poor people! Especially poor, Black, Hispanic people. Former President Obama had signed his executive order in December, 2016, so that it would take effect on January 27, 2017. But hours after Trump took the oath of office, while his first lunch as President was still digesting, he rescinded the order. With his mere signature, he managed to crush Obama’s executive order and destroy the dream of millions of Americans…Just the way he’s going to make sure the Affordable Care Act will be destroyed.

How are his actions going to “Make America Great Again?” They can’t. They won’t. But The Donald doesn’t think his poison pen (and mind) will ruin the country. Not from the way he gushed about the little, forgotten Americans in his Inaugural Address. And how he’s going to transfer power back to the people.

How could America possibly forget this fascist B.S. so clearly disguised as super-patriotic inspiration:

“…For too long, a small group in our nation's Capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost. Washington flourished, but the people did not share in its wealth. Politicians prospered, but the jobs left, and the factories closed. The establishment protected itself, but not the citizens of our country. Their victories have not been your victories. Their triumphs have not been your triumphs. And while they celebrated in our nation's capital, there was little to celebrate for struggling families all across our land.
That all changes starting right here and right now, because this moment is your moment, it belongs to you. It belongs to everyone gathered here today and everyone watching all across America….”

I would say wake me up four years from now, but I just can’t sleep anymore.
