Patch Picks: 5 Nonprofits Making a Difference

Richfield Patch's list of the top local nonprofits making a difference in the community and people's lives.

Richfield is home to a variety of nonprofits working hard to provide support and services to those in need. For Patch Picks this week, we wanted to highlight five of those making a great deal of difference in the community and for those who make it up.

Five Nonprofits Making a Difference

  • : The Richfield Historical Society was founded in 1967 by the Minnesota Valley Women's Club. Richfield was one of the earliest settlements in the Minnesota territory in the 1850s. Simply put: The society works hard to perserve the long history of one of the earliest Minneapolis suburbs.
  • :This nonprofit has been working for the last decade to and the strain it puts on the world's resources. This issue is highly controversial and many people don't want to talk about the issue. The organization was founded by a Richfield resident, David Paxson, and remains headquarterd in the city.
  • : A great community resource that provides walking trails, activities and education. Enough said.
  • This hard working organization works with local churches to resettle refugees and help them make the transition into a new life. The organization provides ESL and citizenship classes, employment services, legal services and more.
  • and : OK, technically Hope Church and Loaves & Fishes or two separate non-profits, however; they are . Monday-Thursday volunteers through Loaves & Fishes serve a free dinner to any who wish to enjoy it; many of those people being seniors and the working poor who may not get a good meal otherwise.
