PHOTOS: Holy Angels Boys Lacrosse Loses First Game of the Season

Burnsville rallies from quick deficit, holds off Stars on a wet and frigid Thursday night.

Despite the cold and wet conditions, Thursday night started out well enough for the Holy Angels boys lacrosse team as Stars midfielder T.J. Patrias gave the visitors a 1-0 lead at host Burnsville just 48 seconds after the opening whistle.

However, the Blaze battled back to take a 2-1 lead by the end of the first quarter and did not relinquish its edge in handing Holy Angels its first loss of the season, 12-8, in a non-conference matchup.

Burnsville held a 4-1 halftime lead as a frosty rain fell from the sky before the Stars mustered up a pair of goals—one apiece from Patrias and Matt Turner—in the third quarter as the game entered its final frame with the Blaze leading 6-3.

The relatively low-scoring affair exploded in the fourth quarter as the two teams combined for 11 goals between them in the concluding 12 minutes, yet the Stars could not draw even before the clock hit zero with the hosts claiming the four-score victory.

The loss dropped Holy Angels to 3-1 on the season as the Stars have the next week off from competition until a non-conference contest at Edina on 7:30 p.m. April 28.
