Rep. Linda Slocum Announces Re-Election Plans

Slocum has represented Richfield at the Capitol since 2006.

Editor’s Note: This is a press release from Minnesota House and Richfield representative Linda Slocum (D-Richfield).

State Representative Linda Slocum announced her run for re-election to the Minnesota House of Representatives in District 50A today. Most of the new 50A district Slocum has represented for 6 years.

“I am excited to be running for re-election in District 50A, which is most of Richfield and the part of Bloomington I have represented for the last six years,” said Slocum. “For the past six years, the people of Richfield and Bloomington have given me the enormous privilege of serving them as their representative in the Minnesota House of Representatives, and I look forward to continuing to serve.”

During her 6 years in the Minnesota House, Rep. Slocum has been a strong voice for Minnesota school children, middle-class workers, lower property taxes, a cleaner environment, and a healthcare system that makes medical care affordable. Slocum has also fought tirelessly against a tax system that favors the most affluent Minnesotans, against cuts to higher education that make college unaffordable and against cuts to social services that make life so much more difficult for our most vulnerable Minnesotans.

Slocum is an American History teacher. Prior to being elected to the House, she served as vice chair of the Richfield Human Services Commission, and as a member of the Richfield Community Service Commission. She was also a member of the Minnesota Commission on Crime Prevention and Control. Slocum currently serves on the House K-12 Education Finance Committee, Crime and Public Safety Policy and Finance Committee and the Commerce and Regulatory Reform Committee.

“My experience in the Legislature has taught me how to effectively advocate and represent the people in our area,” added Slocum. “I have the energy, passion, skills and experience to work effectively, on their behalf, if given the opportunity. Together we can make Minnesota the great state we know it can be.”
