Richfield Girls Basketball Team Snags Bid to State Tourney

The Lady Spartans are the section champs for the second consecutive year.

The Richfield High School girls basketball team is heading to the state tournament for the second consecutive year.

The Lady Spartans defeated the Chaska High School Hawks 72-45 Thursday night at Minnetonka High School. The big win crowned the team section champions for the second year in a row, too.

The team's trip to state last season was the first in the school's history for the girls basketball team. The girls made it all the way to the final game, where they fell a little short to DeLaSalle.
