Richfield, Holy Angels Athletes Compete in Hamline Elite Meet

Richfield schools send their top athletes to compete in prestigious meet on Friday.

Richfield and the Academy of Holy Angels sent their top track and field team members to the Hamline Elite Meet Friday, which showcased the top track and field athletes in Minnesota.

The had a strong showing at Friday’s Hamline Elite meet at Hamline University in St. Paul.

won the 100 meter dash with a 15.08 performance, beating Hopkins' Mariah Witt by 0.60 seconds in the race. January also took second overall in the 300 meter hurdles, finishing the race in 46.33. Witt won that matchup by crossing the finish line in 44.89. In the long jump, January took fourth overall at 16 feet, 0 inches. Bagley-Fosston’s Analisa Huschle won the event at 18 feet, 1.5 inches.

Richfield’s Sara Tseng won the girls pole vault competition by vaulting 11 feet, six inches on the day. Apple Valley’s Hannah Linder took second at 10 feet, nine inches. The boys team's Jordan Stefon placed sixth in the long jump.

For the , Brittany Hegg finished 10th overall with a preliminary run of 14.02.

The Hamline Elite meet is a statewide qualify-only event based on the athletes’ previous results during the 2011 season.
