UPDATED: Richfield Hosts Weekend Softball Tournament

The got a tournament in on Saturday, highlighting a stretch that also saw the Spartans baseball and Holy Angels baseball and softball teams bookending the weekend with conference matchups.

Richfield Softball: Spartans Host Tournament, Go 1-2

The lost its first two games of the season Saturday in hosting a tournament versus non-conference competition.

The Spartans won the tourney opener, 5-4, against Elk River, then fell by scores of 8-6 and 14-4 to Bloomington Jefferson and Hopkins, respectively.

Richfield returned to Classic Suburban Conference (CSC) action with a 10-9 loss at Mahtomedi on Monday and head into a Wednesday home game against Hill-Murray with a 6-3 overall record and a 5-1 mark in circuit play.

Holy Angels Baseball: Stars Break Even With Two Wins

Back-to-back Missota Conference victories on April 21 and Monday boosted the Holy Angels baseball team's record to 3-3 overall as the Stars head into a home game versus New Prague on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Holy Angels defeated Chaska at by a 5-2 score to close out last week, before claiming a 9-5 victory at Red Wing on Monday and currently sit at 3-2 in Missota matchups.

Zach Hartley leads the Stars with a .500 batting average and eight runs batted in, with Will Pagel's six runs scored pacing the squad.

Richfield Baseball: Spartans Drop First Two Conference Games

The heads into a Wednesday afternoon game at Henry Sibley on its first two-game losing streak this season  after falling to conference rivals Tartan and St. Thomas Academy on Friday and Monday, respectively. 

After besting Mahtomedi at home, 3-2, last Thursday, the Spartans lost 2-0 to visiting Tartan to close out last week and then fell 6-3 to St. Thomas Academy at home on Monday. The team sits 5-3 overall and 4-2 in the CSC.

Jacob Zoellmer leads the Richfield pitching staff with a 2-0 record.

Holy Angels Softball: Stars Win First Missota Matchup

The defeated visiting Red Wing, 3-2, for its first Missota Conference win on Monday, improving the team's overall record to 2-5 this spring.

Individual statistics were not available. The Stars are scheduled to play at Chanhassen on Tuesday and at New Prague on Wednesday.

Holy Angels Boys Lacrosse: Stars Improve To 4-1

A 10-4 home win against Totino-Grace on Monday improved the record to 4-1 after the Stars' first loss—12-8 at Burnsville—last Thursday.

T.J. Patrias leads holy Angels with eight goals, with Matt Turner's 10 assists pacing the squad. 

The Stars are scheduled to play Edina at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Holy Angels Girls Lacrosse: Stars Fall to 1-3

The dropped to 1-3 on the season after a 19-11 loss to visiting Chaska/Chanhassen last Thursday.

Isabella Stewart's nine goals lead the Stars, with Jane Schumacher scoring four goals over the same span.

Holy Angels is slated to play at Blake at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Richfield Boys Tennis: Spartans Fall To 1-7

The Richfield boys tennis team fell to 1-7 after a 7-0 loss to Hill-Murray last Thursday, followed by a 6-1 loss to Park on Monday.

Individual results were not available.

The Spartans are scheduled to travel to North St. Paul on Tuesday and take on St. Thomas Academy on Thursday.

Holy Angels Boys Tennis: Stars Shutout By Red Wing

The Holy Angels boys tennis team was shutout by Missota rival Red Wing, 7-0, last Thursday.

*Richfield Boys Golf: Etienne Co-Medalist In Conference Meet

Richfield's carded a par score of 36 to claim co-medalist honors in a CSC boys golf meet at Crystal Lakes Golf Club last Thursday.The Spartans finished third in the triangular meet with a score of 160.
