Richfield Man Charged With Cocaine Possession

Richfield resident Rashaun Montice Chappell, 30, was charged with felony cocaine possession Nov. 23, 2011 based on probable cause.
According to the criminal complaint, Minneapolis Police executed a search warrant for an apartment on the 3400 block of Portland Avenue in Minneapolis Nov. 22. When Police gained entry to the residence, officers reported they observed Chappell throw a baggie to the floor. A field test indicated that the substance in the baggie was crack cocaine; a total of 1.7 grams was found.
The complaint also stated that an acquaintance of Chappell's, who Police believed to be the resident of the apartment, was also found to be in possession of 56 grams of marijuana.

Chappell faces up to five years in prision and/or up to $10,000 in fines for the offense. His bail was set at $3,000. Information on the pending court date was not available.
