Richfield Man Faces Three Felonies After Minneapolis Robbery

Police say Dalon Maurice Reed was one of three men involved in an incident where three victims were robbed at gunpoint.

Richfield resident Dalon Maurice Reed, 22, has been charged with three felony counts of aiding and abetting aggravated robbery after a Feb. 7 incident.

According to the criminal complaint, Minneapolis police officers responded to a robbery report on the 3300 block of 3rd Avenue South. When officers arrived, they met with the first of three victims.

The first victim said he had just come from New Money Express and parked in front of his home when a male, later identified as Bryan Christopher Caldwell, approached him and stuck a black revolver to his torso. The victim reportedly said Caldwell demanded money and his cell phone, and also began going through the victim's pockets. Caldwell then pointed the gun at the other two victims, who were still inside the vehicle, and demanded money and cell phones again. The third victim turned over $400 in cash.

Cadwell then got into a silver SUV with two other males, who were later identified as Reed and Atravius Joseph Weeks, the complaint said.

Police were able to locate the silver SUV, which then attempted to flee from officers. Police chased the vehicle to a parking lot north of the 900 block of 5th Avenue in Minneapolis where all three suspects exited the SUV and then fled on foot. Reed and Caldwell were caught on 10th Street South, while Weeks was found hiding outside of a building near 10th Street and Portland Avenue.

According to the complaint, the car was found to be owned by Reed's girlfriend, who said she had allowed him to take the vehicle the night of the incident. The first victim later said he remembered a similar SUV from the check cashing business he had just come from. In addition, he said Reed may have been at the business while he was.

Reed was held on a $100,000 bond at Hennepin County Jail. Each of the three counts carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prision and/or a $35,000 fine. A court date to answer the charges had not yet been set.
