Richfield School Board Elections Results Are In
Richfield voters were asked to approve two ballot measures and elect three new school board members Tuesday.

RICHFIELD, MN — Voters approved both referendums authorizing a property tax increase and additional funding for Richfield Public Schools Tuesday. With all nine precincts reported, the two ballot measures both won with more than 75 percent of the votes.
Voters also elected Christine M. Maleck, Peter Toensing, Timothy K. Pollis to at-large positions in the school board election.

SCHOOL DISTRICT QUESTION 1 (ISD #280)
Revoking Existing Referendum Revenue Authorization; Approving New Authorization
The board of Independent School District No. 280 (Richfield Public Schools) has proposed to revoke the school district's existing referendum revenue authorization of $964.60 per pupil and to replace that authorization with a new authorization of $1,414.60 per pupil. The proposed new referendum revenue authorization would be applicable for ten years, beginning with taxes payable in 2018, unless otherwise revoked or reduced as provided by law.
Shall the school district's existing referendum revenue authorization be revoked and the increase in the revenue proposed by the board of Independent School District No. 280 be approved?

Approval of School District Bond Issue
Shall the board of Independent School District No. 280 (Richfield Public Schools) be authorized to issue its general obligation school building bonds in an amount not to exceed $86,800,000 to provide funds for the acquisition and betterment of school sites and facilities, including the completion of construction or remodeling at all school sites and facilities to provide a more secure and safe learning environment; completion of various deferred maintenance projects at existing school sites and facilities; completion of parking lot reconfigurations and drop off and traffic flow improvements; the completion of construction, renovation or maintenance of classrooms, labs, cafeterias, kitchens, restrooms and administrative or other instructional spaces at all facilities; and construction of improvements to provide appropriate access within all facilities to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act?
