Richfield Spartans Softball Turns Attention to Postseason

Richfield softballers end regular season with three-straight losses, finish third in conference standings.

With the already beginning section play, the prepares for the postseason after closing out the regular season with a three-game losing streak.

Richfield Softball: Spartans Finish Third In Conference

Following back-to-back losses to Hill Murray on Monday and Tuesday and a 12-0 defeat at the paws of North St. Paul on Wednesday, the now looks to regroup before beginning the postseason next week.

The Spartans fell to 11-7 overall and 10-5 in the Classic Suburban Conference (CSC) standings to take third place behind the circuit champion Polars and runner-up Pioneers in the final conference tally.

Richfield now looks towards the possibility of repeating as Section 6AAA champions, with the tournament beginning on May 23 and running through June 2. The Spartans' seed and opening-round opponent have yet to be announced.

Richfield Baseball: Spartans 6, Henry Sibley 3

The got back to its winning ways with a 6-3 defeat of visiting conference rival Henry Sibley on Wednesday. 

Individual statistics were not made available. The Spartans improved to 12-6 overall and 10-5 in the Classic Suburban with a final conference contest at 4:15 p.m. Thursday against circuit champion Hill-Murray.

Richfield concludes its regular season with a make-up game against Minneapolis Southwest at 4 p.m. Friday.

Holy Angels Baseball: Stars 5, Red Wing 4

A 5-4 defeat over visiting Missota Conference foe Red Wing on Tuesday improved the to 7-8 overall and 7-6 in the circuit.

Matt Workman leapt back into the team lead in batting this week with a .439 batting average and tied for the club-high in runs batted in with 15.

Long continues to lead the Stars pitching staff with four wins, a 1.64 earned run average and 62 strikeouts in eight games.

Holy Angels plays at New Prague at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Holy Angels Boys Lacrosse: White Bear Lake 8, Stars 6

The dropped below .500 for the first time this season with an 8-6 home loss to non-conference opponent White Bear Lake on Tuesday.

Statistics from the game were not made available. The Stars play at Missota rival Farmington on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Richfield Boys Golf: Spartans Second In Conference Triangular

The Richfield boys golf team carded a 169 to take second in a Classic Suburban triangular at Crystal Lakes Golf Course in Lakeville on Wednesday. North St. Paul won the meet with a 162. Individual statistics were not made available.

Richfield Girls Golf: Spartans Third At Rich Valley

A score of 195 earned the a third-place finish in a conference meet at Rich Valley Golf Course in Rosemount on Tuesday. Mahtomedi won the meet with a 190. Individual statistics were not made available. 

Holy Angels Boys Golf: Stars Sixth In Missota Meet

The Holy Angels boys golf team scored a 325 to take sixth in a Missota meet at Mississippi National on Tuesday. Chanhassen won the event with a 300. Individual statistics were not made available.

Holy Angels Girls Golf: Stars Eighth At Chanhassen Invite

A score of 420 got the Holy Angels girls golf team an eighth-place finish at the 12-team Chanhassen Storm Inviational at the Ridges of Sand Creek on Tuesday. Individual statistics were not made available.

Results were not available from mid-week track and field meets featuring Richfield and Holy Angels.
