Richfield Theater Spotlight: Joey Gamoke
Joey Gamoke recently took home a Spotlight Showcase award.
Editor's Note: Richfield High School (RHS) theater students recently participated in Hennepin Theater Trust's Spotlight Showcase along with students from 47 other Minnesota high schools. Patch caught up with some Richfield participants to discuss their theater life. Joey Gamoke, a recent RHS grad who won an award for Outstanding Performance in a Leading Role for her portrayal of "Rizzo" in "Grease, is our first featured thespian.
Richfield Patch: What's your dream role?
Joey Gamoke: I would love to play Tracy in "Hairspray," or Magenta in "Rocky Horror Picture Show."

Richfield Patch: What's your favorite piece of musical theater and why?
Gamoke: "A Chorus Line." It is the perfect balance of song and dance, and [then there's] the corny factor.

Richfield Patch: Do you hope to stay with musical theater beyond high school?
Gamoke: Yes. Next year I will be majoring in theater [in college].
Richfield Patch: How has performing with your high school troupe enriched your talent?
Gamoke: I have learned so much from everyone about acting and how to be a better person.
Richfield Patch: What does the Spotlight Showcase honor mean to you?
Gamoke: The world! I am so thankful and luck to be performing with this caliber of individuals.
