Teresa Kruse: I’m a parent that brought my child back to Richfield in 2009 because the district improved academics, safety and respect. I like the direction of the district and would like to help continue that momentum. I have also seen areas for improvement that can help further improve academics so that all students can be successful.

Richfield Patch: What do you see as your particular qualifications for serving on the Richfield School Board?

Kruse: I have over 16 years experience in business, management and finance, the skills from which have prepared me for the decision-making process needed for the board. I have been a boy scout leader and a fundraising chair for five years. I am also a participant of the superintendent’s advisory committee and have been for more than two years. My experience in business, working with kids and the district committee all work together to help me understand what our kids need.

Richfield Patch: What do you think are the major issues facing the district in the coming years?

Kruse: Money, or lack thereof, is a major issue. We need to be more focused than ever on our budget, potential cuts and our ability to be more efficient with our resources. The schools have had numerous cuts and are running very lean. So the next cuts will likely be such that class sizes will increase. To avoid this, I support the referendum and will work to ensure those funds are used responsibly.

Richfield Patch: What are a few things voters should know about you?

Kruse: My style is collaborative, meaning I like working with others and working all sides of an issue before making a decision. I am curious by nature and like to ask questions. These pieces of my personality drive me to ensure I fully understand the pros and cons in any situation and will guide my decision-making as a board member.
