Spartans Boys Hockey Wins Regular Season Finale

The put the final touches on a 10-14-1 regular season with an 8-4 defeat of North Branch at the Saturday night.

After posting a four-goal first period, the Spartans netted one more in the second and another three in the third frame en route to the victory.

Mick Dhein and Tyler Martinez each registered hat tricks, with Sam Schrick and Ryan Guggenberger chipping in one goal apiece as Donovan Keller made 22 saves to secure the triumph.

On Sunday, Richfield was handed a No. 9 seed and will take on Chaska/Chanhassen on either Tuesday or Wednesday night in the play-in round. The date and time of the contest has not yet been determined.

If the Spartans are able to overcome their opening opponent, they would travel to top-seeded Blake for the quarterfinals for a Friday night contest slated to start at 8 p.m.
