Super Bowl 52: South Metro Should Prepare For More Traffic

Regardless if they make it to the Super Bowl, the Minnesota Vikings' practice facility in Eden Prairie will be busy ahead of the Super Bowl.

In conjunction with Super Bowl 52, two NFL teams will be using the Minnesota Vikings' Winter Park practice facility in Eden Prairie from Jan. 29 through Feb. 2. There's a good chance one of those teams will be the Vikings, but regardless, the south Twin Cities metro will be busy.

Residents should prepare for increased traffic and road closures in the area. Businesses near the border of Eden Prairie and Edina will be especially impacted.

  • The intersection of Viking Drive and Washington Avenue will be closed while teams are at the practice facility
  • Commuters should make plans to use the north end of Washington Avenue, accessible from Highway 169 and Valley View Road.
  • Traffic congestion and detours are expected and employees should plan accordingly when setting work schedules and meetings, as well as notify visitors and delivery drivers, etc.

Check out a map of the planned closures. Detour information will be posted along roadways two weeks in advance.
