The sectional playoffs began for both local volleyball teams on Wednesday night, with Richfield advancing following a victory at home, while Holy Angels was eliminated from postseason play after losing on the road.

A four-game defeat of tenth-seeded St. Paul Academy (25-17, 22-25, 25-10, 25-17) vaulted the No. 7 seeded Richfield volleyball team into the quarterfinals of the Section 4AA Tournament.

The Holy Angels volleyball team, seeded 11th, saw its season come to an end in a three-game loss (14-25, 9-25, 8-25) at sixth-seeded Apple Valley in the opening round of the Section 3AAA Tournament.
