Rochester Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting Teen Girl Over Span of 6 Months Enters Plea Deal (krocnews.com subscription) — A Rochester man has pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sexual conduct after repeatedly assaulting a 15-year-old girl he met online, with incidents occurring in Rochester homes over several months in 2024. Prosecutors will recommend a 48‑month prison sentence under state guidelines, and other charges will be dismissed as part of the plea deal.
   

2. Two Rochester Men Charged In Muslim Center Theft (kroc.com) — Two Rochester men are facing burglary charges after security video allegedly showed them breaking into a donation box at a local Muslim community center and taking hundreds of dollars. Police used the footage to identify the suspects, who now face separate burglary counts and are due back in court next month.
   

3. Plans for $15.1 million to $16.4 million Sixth Avenue update adjacent to Mayo Clinic moving forward (postbulletin.com) — Rochester officials are moving ahead with a $15–16 million redesign of Sixth Avenue near Mayo Clinic, aiming for safer crossings, wider sidewalks, and a new protected bikeway by 2028. The council also advanced new trail connections, multiple residential subdivisions, and short‑term debt to expand Rochester Public Utilities' water service for growing southwest and northwest neighborhoods.
   

4. Rochester City Council approves preferred operator for Chateau Theater, Willow Creek Trail extension (kaaltv.com subscription) — Rochester's City Council has tentatively chosen Experience Rochester to operate the historic Chateau Theater, pending further review with Destination Medical Center. The council also approved a new route for the Willow Creek Trail extension that avoids private property, moving the project into final design and eventually linking to Gamehaven Park.
   

5. GOP Pierson, DFL Glaser offer different visions for affordability, school reform, gun violence (postbulletin.com) — Rochester residents heard contrasting visions on affordability, school performance, gun violence, and election security as state Senate candidates Nels Pierson and Simon Glaser debated at the Rochester Public Library. The two clashed over fraud in state programs, gun-control measures, voting ID requirements, and how best to tackle rising housing, childcare, and healthcare costs affecting local families and teachers.
