Comcast Cares Day at Gibbs Museum
Comcast volunteers offered a helping hand at Gibbs Museum of Pioneer and Dakota Life in Falcon Heights.

Volunteers took advantage of summer-like weather Saturday, April 27 to lend a helping hand at Gibbs Museum of Pioneer and Dakota Life in Falcon Heights. Comcast volunteers helped to prepare the historic site for its May 1 opening for school tours. More than 1,800 volunteers worked at dozens of area nonprofits
as part of Comcast Cares Day, the company’s annual nationwide volunteer
event.
One of the projects at Gibbs Farm included raising a tipi similar to those
lived in by members of Cloud Man’s band of Dakota. The tipi must be
raised each spring before the visitor season begins. The historic Gibbs
Farm museum interprets the real life relationship of the Gibbs family and Cloud
Man’s band of Dakota during the mid-1800s. Comcast Cares Day volunteers
also built a picket fence, repaired a wood shed and barn, and worked on
landscaping and gardening projects.
