Earth Day Celebration

Come see the new tree, explore the new boardwalk sections, and celebrate the nature center's 25th birthday!

Step into spring at the Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 18, 10 am - 2 pm at the Harriet Alexander Nature Center (HANC) in Roseville. In addition to celebrating the Earth, we’ll also mark HANC’s 25th birthday as we showcase our new look, both inside and out. Since last fall the building has undergone a transformation as part of Roseville Parks and Recreation’s Park Renewal Program. We’re especially pleased to show off the wonderful tree display inside the building, funded by the Friends of Roseville Parks, as well as the new boardwalk sections out in the marsh. This extra-special Earth Day Celebration is sponsored by Half Price Books, Great Southern Bank, and Friends of Roseville Parks, with assistance from our community partner, Kinderberry Hill Childcare Center. The first 100 families will get a 2015 Chinook Book, compliments of Gateway Cycle, and everyone can enter the free drawing for a rain barrel, compost bin, or other great prizes.

Boardwalk tours, activities, crafts and planting for butterflies run from 10 am - 1:00, with performances by Will Hale and the Tadpole Parade at 10:30 and 11:45. At 1:00, the kids from Kinderberry Hill will present “The Great Kapok Tree,” followed by the popular Walking Parade. The day ends with birthday cake for all to celebrate HANC’s 25th birthday.

The Earth Day Celebration is a Zero Waste Event, with guidance by and thanks to Eureka! Recycling and the City of Roseville. There will be volunteers on hand to answer any questions.
