Goodbye summer fun ........

When I woke this morning I was feeling less than enthusiastic about back to school time, actually feeling quite down. Kissed my 6th grader goodbye, tucked my senior in for her last sleep in session, took my sister in law to the airport and went for a run. Magically I feel better about saying goodbye to a fabulous summer.

I  am proud to say I accomplished one of my August goals  ( to have more fun) I said yes to everything I could including a  Saints game, Vikings game, Mud run, Shawn Silvera 5k, movies ,lunches with friends and indulgences at the State Fair.

My other goal (that pesky weight loss goal, the next 20lbs by Fall) was left in the dust of poolside parties, bbq’s ,beer and Sweet Martha’s. I am sure it is a direct result of saying yes to all that fun but well worth it. I did increase my running, adding in some long walks and strength training. My idea of balance.

Now onto a renewed focus for that weight loss goal! Moms on the Run begins again tomorrow and it’s about time. I wonder how many miles it will take to work off the chocolate dipped salted nut roll??

For the first time ever, I planned my exercise for the month of September and put it on the calendar. It is scheduled! Moms on the Run, Zumba at the Fairview community center and Life core yoga. Hopefully the laundry will do itself, the dogs will take their own baths and kids take up cooking. Will my hubby get it when I have to quit my full time job to be able to fit it all in?? It is impossible to do everything I want all at once but I am discovering if I write it down, make a plan, it is more likely to happen. My 17 year helps a lot with grocery shopping and driving her brother around so I should not have anything standing in my way, except the occasional “emergency” girl’s night out.

How do you do it? How do you get your exercise time in with so many schedule choices? What is your biggest challenge to getting started? How do you motivate yourself to new levels? I would love to hear from you.
