National Weather Service Issues Hazardous Weather Outlook for Ramsey County

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook Wednesday morning for Ramsey County and the Twin Cities area.

A weak storm system is spreading light snow across the Twin Cities, including the Roseville area. Light freezing drizzle is possible tonight through Thursday morning.

A short-term forecast for the area was released in the following statement:

VISIBILITIES ARE DROPPING BELOW A MILE IN LIGHT SNOW TO A HALF MILE IN MODERATE SNOWFALL ACROSS THE MOST OF MINNESOTA AND JUST BEGINNING OVER WESTERN WISCONSIN THIS MORNING. THE TRAILING EDGE IS IN WESTERN MINNESOTA MOVING AWAY FROM ALEXANDRIA...BENSON...MONTEVIDEO AND ALBERT LEA...TOWARDS LITTLE FALLS...ST CLOUD...THE WESTERN TWIN CITY METRO AND ROCHESTER BETWEEN NOON AND 100 PM. A TRACE TO LESS THAN AN INCH WILL ACCUMULATE OVER SOUTHERN MINNESOTA SOUTH OF 1-94. 1 TO 2 INCHES TO FALL ACROSS THE REST OF NORTHERN AND EASTERN MINNESOTA AND WESTERN WISCONSIN THIS AFTERNOON.

The potential for a winter storm is increasing for late Saturday into Monday for the area. The "best chance for moderate snow" will be in western Minnesota, the National Weather Service stated.
