Roseville's Run for the Roses Draws a Big Crowd, Fast Times
Hundreds of runners raced and rolled in the annual Race/Roll for the Roses Saturday to kick off Rosefest.
Near-perfect running conditions greeted more than 325 runners and in-line skaters who raced and rolled in the annual Race/Roll for the Roses Saturday morning.
The race start was overcast and in the low 60s, which led to fast times and good finishes by several runners. Roseville runners won three of the four road runs.
Some 164 runners officially finished the 5k, 99 completed the 10K race and 63 competed in the 10K in-line skate event.

Seventeen-year-old Mason Ferlic, of Roseville, pulled away from the pack to easily win the men's 5K run. Ferlic finished in 16:35, more than three minutes faster than the second-place finisher.
Mary Ennis, 14, of Roseville, was the top woman's runner in 20:28 in the 5K and finished a credible ninth overall in the event.

In the 10K, Roseville's Timothy Branigan easily won in 33:10. Branigan's time was four minutes faster than second place finisher Chris Simpson of St. Paul.
Victoria Larson, 41, of Maple Grove was the top woman finisher in the 10K in 44:30.
David Sarmite was first in the pro/racer division in the 10K in-line skate event with a time of 17:22.5. Jake Hernandez won the rec/fitness in-line competition with a time of 23:56.5.
