TGK Automotive Offers Discount on Car Repairs in Return for Food Donation to Area Food Shelves

TGK Automotive wants to give back to their community by driving away hunger this holiday season.  They will be collecting non-perishable food items in their Holiday Food Drive to give to their community food shelters.

According to Hunger Solutions, visits to food shelves have increased by 62% statewide in the past two years, and in the Twin Cities visits to food shelves have increased by a shocking 97%!  Each year families in Minnesota are missing out on 100 million meals and one in six Minnesota children are at risk of hunger according to Second Harvest Heartland.

Customers, neighbors, employees and local businesses are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items.  Anyone who donates at least three items will receive a 10% discount on any service now through January 3, 2014.  All donations will be taken to Second Harvest Heartland and the Hugo Community Food Shelf.  There will be donation boxes at the TGK Automotive in Maplewood and Hugo.

“Having grown up in this area and continuing to raise my family here, I truly care about my community and want to see it continue to grow,” says Troy Kaplan, owner of TGK Automotive.  “Over the years I have got to know many people here and want to help those who are in need in the holiday season. It is great to support a sense of community and I want to make sure that people who are going hungry know that their community will take care of them.”
