E. Kelly Keady dedicated his book The Fall of St. Sebastian to his father and SFC Mike Mills (see below excerpt from the Acknowledgments Page of his book and more info can be found here: http://fortypress.com/book/the-fall-of-saint-sebastian/ ). Kelly also named a character after veteran Mills in the book (one of the heroes, of course). A little over a month ago, Mike Mills received a much deserved Bronze Star.
SFC Mills, who was severely injured in Iraq, started his own movement to help veterans with the same issues he had to overcome by flying across the country on his own dime speaking to other wounded vets. A dollar from each sale of The Fall of St. Sebastian (print and ebook) will go to Mills’ “For The Veteran” program and other veterans programs during these weeks around Veterans Day. Although we should remember those who served all year long, Veterans Day helps remind us to give a little extra to those who have already given so much.
Keady will be appearing at the Roseville Har Mar Barnes & Noble on November 14, 2013 at 7 pm with a panel of lively authors including:

Excerpt from the Acknowledgments Page of Keady’s political thriller The Fall of St. Sebastian:
My father recently passed away and those lucky enough to know him understand that I would not be the writer, much less the person, I am but for his influence. I learned the value of knowledge at a very early age often at the expense of a thirty minute etymological lesson in response to a simple spelling question. Dad would set down his pencil, put aside his crossword puzzle, and then proceed with his little Socratic teeth-pulling session. I always came back for more even though I was well aware that asking my easy question would end inevitably with two or three reference books on my lap. My father introduced me to a whole new world beyond my limited sphere of knowledge as he guided my research through various encyclopedias and dictionaries. My father embodied the ‘teach a man to fish’ axiom in its fullest glory and instilled in his children the ability to find answers for themselves. Thanks, Dad.
My father was also a veteran and after many trips to Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, this segue is easy. Thank you to Sergeant First Class Michael Mills—and all our soldiers—for your service away from home and loved ones. All too often we take your service for granted, but hopefully we will get better welcoming you back home and helping you, when needed, to rehabilitate both emotionally and physically. Mills, who was severely injured in Iraq, started his own movement to help veterans with such issues by simply relying on his first-hand experience. Another part of his mission is to promote awareness of the basic fact that the needs of veterans are not being met. Thank you.
