Wedding Invitations

The wedding invitation is extremely important. It gets the ball rolling in so many different areas. Once you drop those invites in the mail you are no longer just planning your wedding; suddenly you’re getting married! It is for real. Kinda cool, huh?! :)
The invitation sets the mood for your entire wedding. If your event is casual, glamorous, simple, formal, bold, elegant---whatever--- let your invite reflect that. Doing so will give your guests a nice sense of what to expect. But you do not have to break the bank to do this!

There are a few different ways to do this:
1. Make your invitations online
My favorite website is Vistaprint. They are very inexpensive and provide tons of style options. You can mix and match fonts, colors, backgrounds, etc. to help create your own design. Before you know it, your lovely invitations are at your door!
Tip: Avoid sending Evites. A wedding email isn't as welcoming as an actual paper invitation. Think of it this way: if you're expecting wedding gifts from your guests, then they deserve to receive nice invitations.
2. Make your own!
A lot of people avoid this because they are afraid that the invitations won’t look as attractive as store bought. Well, the most beautiful wedding invitations I have received were homemade---they were stunning! Surf around Pinterest to see what other people have made. Michael's also has some great invite samples that can give you some inspiration.
     Things to Avoid:
-Don't hire a Calligrapher to address your envelopes. Write legibly yourself or print the addresses off your computer.
-Avoid adding items that will fall out of the invitation (i.e. confetti.) Your guests don't want to clean up after opening your wedding invite.
Tip: Once you start making the invitations don’t be afraid to enlist your bridesmaids’ help! Make it a fun invitation making party---open a bottle of wine, have some appetizers, get creative!
3. Cut the postage price
The more you stuff in the envelope; the more postage you will have to pay. Traditional wedding invitations can include: a response card, reception card, directions card, map, and return envelope. Mail your invitation with only the invitation enclosed. Instead of including all of the extra paperwork, create a wedding website. At the bottom of your invitation write, “To RSVP and for more information please visit: insert your web address.” To make a free website I recommend using Weebly. It is fun, easy, and you will be proud of your finished product.
